The 1st RAKMHSU Student Scientific Conference was held on Saturday March 6, 2010. The theme was: "Diabetes and Endocrine Updates 2010". The conference objective was to explore the challenges posed by diabetes and other endocrine conditions and the most recent updates concerning their etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and prevention with emphasis on the impact of the disease in UAE.
More than 100 students participated in the conference and they delivered some 14 oral presentations as well as 30 posters. The conference was attended by Dr G.M. Rao, the vice chancellor of the university, and the deans of the Medical, Dental, Pharmaceutical, and Nursing Colleges. The guest speaker was Dr. Mohammed H. Jarrar, Associate Professor of Biotechnology, AURAK, who delivered a lecture on the 'Latest research about pathogenesis and diagnosis of metabolic syndrome'. The conference included the Poster Exhibition and Two sessions of Oral Presentations. The conference was ended by the announcement of the winners of the first three positions for both the poster and the oral presentations.
Office of Students Affairs along with the related Colleges has coordinated the participation of RAK MHSU Students in the second Scientific Conference on 19th May 2011. The theme of the Conference this year was" Cardiovascular Diseases in UAE" exploring the challenges posed by CVDs and the most recent updates concerning their etiology. Pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and prevention with emphasis on their impact in UAE.
The Chief Guest of the conference was Mr. Abdulla Bin Souqat - Executive Director-Sheikh Hamden Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences.
Overall, more than 40 research projects about the theme were presented by the students as oral/poster presentations. All the research proposals were scrutinized by the organizing committee and approved by the Ethical Committee of RAKMHSU.
The conference activities included three oral presentations sessions and two poster exhibition sessions.
The best three Medical Science as well as the best three Health Sciences oral presentations were awarded. Also, the best three posters were awarded.
Office of Student Affairs organized RAKMHSU 2nd University Day on Thursday November 29th, 2011. A total of 58 students were awarded and honored, including all the meritorious students who had topped in academics in the academic year 2010/2011. Students are from RAK College of Medical Sciences, RAK College of Dentistry Sciences, RAK College of Nursing Sciences, and RAK College of Pharmacy Sciences. The University Day also included honoring the winners of the extra curriculum activities. Awards were given to (152) students, faculty and staff, who won the first three positions in the cultural & sport Activities. The activities included Football, Table Tennis, and Chess Tournaments. The cultural activities, which organized as a part of the 2nd Inter-Collegiate Competitions, included essay writing, cultural quizzes, drawing, photography, video making, and painting. Awards were distributed by the Vice Chancellor and Dr Yasser Al Nuaimi, Director of RAK Medical District and Director of Clinical Education, RAKMHSU. The event was a big success, and it was attended by students, faculty and staff of the University.

Abdulrahman Aideed"Twenty seven MBBS students participated as volunteers in " Vaccination awareness campaign" organized by RAK Medical Zone. The students distributed informative brochures and delivered health education to the public about the vaccination program of UAE and the novel vaccines introduced. The campaign was run in Manar Mall, Safeer Mall, LuLu Center and the Corniche area from 26-29th April 2011.
RAKMHSU students actively participated in the 1st UAE University Research Day. Collectively, the students presented 3 research papers as posters and 1 research as an oral presentation. The conference which was held on 10th May 2011 provided excellent opportunity for the students to share their knowledge with their fellow students and attend comprehensive lectures delivered by keynote speakers.
