Hospital Facilities for Clinical Teaching

Inside UAE

RAKMHSU will use the facilities of Sheikh Saqr Hospital and Ibrahim Bin HamadObaidullah Hospitals in Ras Al Khaimah for teaching and clinical training of the students, in addition to the various primary health centers available in Ras Al Khaimah under the ambit of RAK Medical Zone. It will also use Ministry of Health Hospitals and primary health centers at Fujairah and Dibba with 450 beds for clinical clerkship.

Sheikh Saqr Hospital has bed capacity of 278 and has 99 consultants, of whom 48 have terminal degrees and the remaining are general practitioners. All the surgical specialties like General Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Oto-rhino-laryngology, Ophthalmology, and Obstetrics & Gynecology are located in this hospital. Paediatrics is also located in Saqr hospital. All the medical specialties like Internal Medicine, Neurology, Respiratory & Chest Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, and Psychiatry are located in Ibrahim Bin HamadObaidullah Hospital.

Outside UAE

RAKMHSU has got academic tie-up with Hashemite University, Jordan in the areas of clinical clerkship training, internship, continuing medical education and research. Similar tie-ups are being worked up with Universities in Cairo and Sudan. The RAKMHSU students will be posted for clinical clerkships in these universities as and when required.

The cost of travelling and accommodation and personal expenses during any overseas training shall be borne by the students. RAKMHSU will be responsible for the cost of clinical training only.
