Admission Criteria

General Admission Requirements

RAKMHSU admission policy is based on student academic achievement in the secondary school certificate or its equivalent, and English language proficiency, regardless of gender, race, color, religion, age or national origin.

Admission Procedures

Admissions to B.Pharm Program of RAKMHSU shall be competitive and will be based entirely on the scores in the UAE GSEC/ Grade 12 or its equivalent.

An aggregate of 70% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.

Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 70% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology (level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3).

Minimum Eligibility for admissions to B.Pharm:

Proficiency in English:

Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test, 61 in internet based test or 173 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1100 – 1225 OR Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 41 OR City & Guilds IESOL Test score of B1/B2 Borderline OR Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score range of 36-41 is required.

This will be common for all the health sciences programs. The students may appear for TOEFL in their country or in any recognized centre in UAE. RAKMHSU runs English language program through English Language Centre and is entitled to conduct Institutional TOEFL. Any student who wish to enroll in any of the RAKMHSU programs, but could not appear for TOEFL in his/her own country, can be benefited with the services of English Language Centre. The grades awarded in the institutional TOEFL conducted RAKMHSU OR Direct TOEFL offices at Abu-Dhabi & Dubai are acceptable.

Note:

Students securing between 450-500 in TOEFL (between 4.5-5 in IELTS) may be admitted provisionally to the first semester of B.Pharm. after examining individual cases and number of attempts by the student. Such students will be provisionally admitted with a deadline to clear TOEFL/IELTS before the end of the first semester. Such students will progress to the second semester only after obtaining minimum score of 500 in TOEFL/5 in IELTS. If not, their admission will be cancelled and they will not be registered for the second semester of the program.

Academic Criteria:

Admission to all programs is based entirely on merit. Admissions are open to students of all nationalities.

University General Admission Requirements

RAK-MHSU admission policy is based on student academic achievement in the undergraduate program, regardless of gender, race, color, religion, age or national origin.

All documents presented by the applicant for admission purposes shall become the property of RAK-MHSU and will not be returned, other than any original documents. If, for any reason, documents presented by the applicant are deemed fraudulent, RAK-MHSU reserves the right to expel the student without refund, or prior notice at any time during the study period.

Academic and Practice Requirements

Admissions to master programs of RAK-MHSU shall be competitive and will be based on the scores in the corresponding RAKMHSU Bachelors program or its equivalent. Course by course review of the baccalaureate transcript will be done for students applying from other universities besides RAKMHSU to check whether prerequisite courses were completed in the baccalaureate program.

Minimum Eligibility for Masters:

Minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in B. Pharm of RAK-MHSU or their equivalent undergraduate program in the required discipline.

Proficiency in English Requirements

(a) Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test, 79 in internet based test or 213 in computer based test or OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1400 – 1525 OR Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 52 OR City & Guilds IESOL Test score of B2 OR Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score range of 50-57 is accepted for entry to graduate programs

(b) Exceptions to the Proficiency in English requirements

 

  • A native speaker of English who has completed his/her undergraduate education in an English-medium institution and in a country where English is the official language;
  • An applicant with an undergraduate qualification from an English-medium institution who can provide evidence of acquiring a minimum TOEFL score of 500 on the Paper-Based test, or its equivalent on another standardized test approved by the Commission, at the time of admission to his/her undergraduate program.

Conditional/Provisionally admission to Master’s Program in Pharmacy:

A student with a recognized bachelor degree in Pharmacy with a cumulative grade point average below 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, and who meets the English language competency requirements for general admission, can be admitted conditionally to a Master’s program depending on seat availability. Such a student must meet the following requirements during the period of conditional admission or be subject to dismissal:

    a. Must study all the courses of semester – 1 and clear all courses of first semester with a CGPA of 3 to continue to the next semester.
