Admission criteria for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program
The minimum admission requirement depends on the applicant’s type of secondary school education certificate. RAKMHSU recognizes certificates from higher secondary schools affiliated to Ministry of Education-UAE and also recognizes certificates from higher secondary schools that are recognized by their host countries.
The University also accepts certificates awarded by recognized authorities of national and international boards.
Some countries award two levels of secondary school certificates, in which case, RAKMHSU will recognize the higher level certificate.
In all cases, only courses classified as academic or a combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology are accepted for admission consideration and the calculation of the aggregate scores.
Examples of Secondary School Certificates:
The following is a list of certificates and the corresponding minimum levels of performance required for admission to RAKMHSU. These certificates and levels of achievement serve as guidelines for admission to RAKMHSU. However these are minimum eligibility requirements only and students with high merit are selected.
For MBBS Degree Program:
An aggregate of 80% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admissions will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.
Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 80% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology (level 3) and Advanced Chemistry( level 3).
An aggregate score of 80% is required. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics. If Biology is not taken in 12th Grade, a SAT II score of 550 in Biology is required.
Must have completed any six courses including Biology and Chemistry/Physics at the higher level and obtain IB score of at least 25.
Higher Secondary School Certificate with aggregate of 75% can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics (Part 1 and Part 2 total).
CBSE [Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, India]:
All India Senior School Certificate/CBSE XII Std with 75% aggregate can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics courses.
Indian State Board:
For Indian State Board Examinations those with 80% aggregate can apply. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.
British Curriculum IGCSE,GCSE,GCE:
Combination of grades should follow as: Two A-levels OR 4 AS-levels OR 2 AS & 1 A-level after completion of 5 ‘O’ levels with minimum grade C.
Courses must include Biology, Chemistry & Physics.
Completion of Pre-University year required (Grade 12) with 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.
English language requirements for MBBS Degree Program:
Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 in paper-based test, 79 in internet based test or 213 in computer based test OR Academic IELTS score of 6 OR EmSAT Achieve – English score of 1400- 1525 OR Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 52 OR Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score range of 50-57 is mandatory required for entry to MBBS program.
