The Bachelor of Dental Surgery ( B D S) program is of five years duration followed by one year internship.

 

The program comprises of six months of general education, two years of basic medical and dental sciences and two-and-half years of clinical dental sciences. This is followed by a year of dental internship.

 

The curriculum has been developed to provide learning opportunities enabling dental students to acquire fundamental knowledge,  develop basic skills and appropriate principles relevant to oral health care in the context of the community.

 

The graduates of this program shall have opportunities to work in general practice, the community dental service, hospital practice, university teaching and research in various individual organizations.

 

The BDS program has obtained Initial Accreditation from Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE and admission is in progress for the academic session commencing September 2008.

 

Admission criteria for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program:

 

Aggregate of 80% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in UAE National General Secondary School Examination (NGSSE) or its equivalent with minimum of 70% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually.

English language requirements: Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper based or 173 in computer based or 61 in internet based or its equivalent standardized test such as IELTS score of 5.0 is required.
